L' instruction aux communautés grecques de Roumanie

Abstract

This communication is an exposé of the state of education in the Greek
communities in Rumania in the 1869-1878 period. Special emphasis is given to the Greek communities in Bucharest, Brăila, Galaţi, Buzău, Călărassi, Calafat, Constanţa, Giurgiu, Soulina, Ismail, Turnu-Măgurelle, Tumu-Severin and Urlaţi.
To further the understanding of this subject, the author examines the
steps undertaken by the Greek State to reinforce and improve the condition of Greek education in those communities. These steps reflect the broader cultural policies of Greece in view of the evolvement of the Eastern Question.
