Abstract

The study of a large number of Turkish judicial documents (hticcets) from the Vlatadon Monastery collection in Thessaloniki reveals the development of some features in writing this kind of documents, such as the opening formula, the use of the kadi’s seal or the last phrase. Having those observations in mind, we can find out whether a hiiccet is an original or a copy, a genuine or a forgery.
