Abstract
The páper sets itself the task of introducing a hitherto unknown source
providing information about certain important aspects of thè politicai and
cultural history of Bulgaria and the history of Greek-Bulgarian relations. It
is the diary of a well-known Bulgárián politicai and public figure of the second
half of the 19th Century, Marko Balabanov, which he kept on his journey
to Greece in 1891. The diary has been analyzed in the context of thè politicai
and diplomatie relations in the Balkans and in Europe at the end of the
19th Century, taking into account thè ideologica! évolution of its author.
