Abstract
The paper sets out to discuss the problème concerning the phonetic aspect
of the Greek borrowings in Bulgárián. These are either direct borrowings
or via Latin, other Western-European languages and Russian. It is noted
that the bulk of the borrowings come from Médiáéval Greek and Modern
Greek, their reception in literary language being distinct from that in the
dialects. For their own part, Greek borrowings may also have either a literary
or a dialectal origin. Vocalism, consonantism and accentuation are traced
in detail.
