Abstract
After the révolution of September 1843, various societies were created
in Athens by fighters who came from areas that were not included in the Greek
state (such as Epirus, Thessaly, Crete, and others). The main purpose of these
societies was to elect représentatives to the National Assembly. It was then
that the “Thraco-Bulgarian Society” was created, which was later renamed
the “Society of Thracians, Bulgarians and Serbs”, and which elected as its
représentative to the National Assembly the well-known Bulgárián veteran
of the 1821 revolution, General Hatzi Hristo. This society continued its activities
in the 1860s, aiming mainly at the reestablishment of its members, who
were veterans of the War of Independence.
