The aim of the current study is to understand sexual harassment at the work place under the perspective of transformative theory. A quantitative study was conducted through convenience sampling. Self-administered questionnaires were answered by 79 participants. Study’s hypotheses were three: a) the main means of information remain the mass media, b) most victims are unaware of the law and their own rights, and c) dysfunctional assumptions assist prevalence.
Most study participants were not properly informed for the relevant legislative framework resulting on women’s inability to appeal to justice. The majority of the women in the current sample stated that they had experienced at least one incident of sexual harassment. However, the percentage of those who eventually turn to justice appears to be relatively small, revealing possible cultural and psychological dysfunctional assumptions that, pose obstacles to combating the phenomenon.
