The use of play as a learning tool has deep philosophical and historical roots, reflecting the perpetual quest for the complete cultivation of the human mind and body. Today, there is a renewed focus on the importance of play within the educational system, particularly in Europe, where pedagogical approaches are rethinking and redefining the role of play as a fundamental means for promoting critical thinking, creativity, and social integration. Play, whether through traditional board games or modern digital games, has been proven to enhance the development of crucial skills and contribute to the broader educational experience of students. This renewed focus reflects the need for more innovative and engaging teaching methods that meet the challenges of the 21st century. Through modern educational approaches, there is a renewed focus today on the importance of play within the educational system, particularly in Europe. We need to see how pedagogical theories are rethinking and redefining the role of play, highlighting it as a fundamental tool for promoting critical thinking, creativity and social inclusion.
