Περίληψη

 


This paper explores educational scenarios developed within the framework of the program ‘Introduction of English in preschool education’ (EAN). Content analysis is conducted to 34 educational scenarios focusing on four axes: content knowledge, nature of content, scientific methods, and socio-scientific issues. Results suggest that educational scenarios of the EAN program contribute to reduction of abstract academic content by minimizing aspects related to memorization of English words and structures. Instead, the program promotes content that focuses on meaning processes that interact with daily lives of young children. It is argued that the EAN program can contribute to developing critical thinking and democratic citizenship within interdisciplinary approaches of preschool education.
