Περίληψη

The concept of local government is intertwoven with the administrative, economic, social and political dimension of society. The multidimensional and important role of local authorities in cultural development is closely linked to the creation of cultural infrastructure and the encouragement and strengthening of different social groups. In this concept, local authorities have the opportunity to act freely and creatively within the heterogeneity and diversity of modern societies. There is a great need of intercultural exchange and diplomacy in local terms, through the cooperation and the engagement with other cultural communities. Intercultural dialogue is going to improve the living conditions of residents of local communities and as a result the intercultural training is expected to be the important pillar of a broader and diverse local development. The institutions and the structures of intercultural education at local level, such as schools of immigrants and the training programs of Greek language, contribute to the cultural decentralization, the social support of all ethnic-cultural groups, the balanced cultural development and the cultural democratization. As a result, any kind of contradiction and prejudice is moderated.
