Abstract
Over the last decades migration has altered the economic and social landscape
of Greece. Key migrant flows triggering this transformation were the massive
migrant inflows that commenced with the collapse of socialist regimes in Central
and Eastern
Europe in the early 1990’s, the return flows provoked by the severe
economic crisis affecting Greece since 2008, and the outflows of Greek nationals
sparked by the same recession. Some of the main economic and social consequences
of these flows are examined in this paper.
