Abstract

Technological development and economic growth are becoming more and more intertwined private and public decision makers have become aware of this important relationship and feel that technological development can and must be stimulated. One of such stimuli is offered by the science park concept. This paper examines this concept in more depth. It also discusses the science park concept as a means to restructure the Greek economy. It is concluded that science parks can certainly contribute to the modernization and diversification of the Greek economy, but only after the quality and quantity of 'basic factors' have been upgraded.
