Abstract

The subject of this paper is thè translations, made in thè period of thè
Bulgárián national revival, of two short novels belonging to thè early works
of thè German writer Christophe Schmidt—“Die Waldkapelle” and “Das
Täubchen”. Through a comparative textological analysis of Raško Blăskov’s
translations and their Greek versions, thè author demonstrates thè latter’s
intermediary role in acquainting thè Bulgárián reader with these two of
Schmidt’s works. Conclusions are drawn concerning thè compétence of thè
Bulgárián translator, his knowledge of thè foreign language, and thè means
he uses to adapt thè Bulgárián version to thè concepts, thè way of Iife and thè
ideas of his readers.
