Non-custodial sanctions and measures in Bulgaria Current status quo and the European perspectives in trouble times

Abstract

At present, in a global aspect, punishment as an act of state coercion and especially imprisonment is the typical, primary means of response to committing crimes. With the realization of the criminal responsibility, the state aims to correct and re-educate the offender and to have a preventive influence on him/ her and the other members of society. Many different essential conclusions have long been drawn in criminal law theory both home and abroad.
