Abstract
The paper focuses on the political and social developments in Greek
Macedonia during 1945-1946. It is based on the weekly reports of the British
Consul in Thessaloniki. The fall of 1945 and the beginning of 1946 was a
crucial period in the Greek political scene. This was the period which prepared
the ground for the Greek Civil War. The weekly reports reveal that the
road to the rupture between the bourgeois and the communist forces was
inevitable.
