MOMus - Museum of Modern Art:
an international museum in Western Thessaloniki
DOI:

An internationally significant art collection (the Costakis Collection), a cultural institution
(MOMus-Museum of Modern Art), a cultural complex (Moni Lazariston), and a music festival
have had their headquarters in western Thessaloniki, in the Stavroupoli area, for the past 25 years.
To what extent has this presence shaped new cultural models? How is sustainability, artistic
education, and visitor engagement managed in an area located away from the city centre? How
integrated is the local community in cultural activities? These questions make artistic interaction
in the area particularly demanding and contribute to broader conclusions about the cultural
policy of Thessaloniki.
