This introductory paper presents an overview of interdisciplinary scholarly discussions and case studies from selected
special issues focusing on minority rights, language ideologies, policy debates, and applied methods for the preservation
or revitalization of languages globally. The aim is to connect the specific findings and insights highlighted in the papers
of this special section with broader academic debates across fields such as linguistics, cultural studies, anthropology,
sociology, history, education, and international law. By examining these diverse perspectives, the author seeks to enrich
discussion included in papers of this special section, while inviting readers to consider both challenges and strategies
involved in sustaining minority languages in various sociocultural and political contexts.
