Περίληψη

People distinguish men and women according to their gender and they give them arbitrary characteristics. This research aims in investigating teachers’ opinions of unit EKP60 of EAP, regarding gender stereotypes in language and mathematics. Through Qualitative strategy, 171 teachers, with 5 Likert type choices, chose the degree of agreement or disagreement with the written statements. The validity and reliability of this research was ensured. The majority of teachers’ opinions seems to be stereotypic, mainly towards girls, but for boys their opinions seem to be more neutral. More teachers seem to agree on boys’ success in mathematics, though they seem to be more neutral on girls’ success in mathematics. After the correlation of their opinions regarding boys and girls it seems that their opinions are related, especially in the same subject where the correlations are strong and analog. This research confirms some researches about gender stereotypes while it does not confirm others.
