This study explored the relationship between parenting practices and parental stress in parents of children with and without ADHD, involving 270 parents of children aged 6-12 years, 58% of whom had an ADHD diagnosis. Findings revealed that parents of children with ADHD experienced higher levels of parental stress and dysfunctional parent-child interactions, with increased use of authoritarian, permissive, and strict practices. However, supportive practices remained similar across both groups, indicating efforts to maintain positive interactions. Regression analysis indicated that ADHD diagnosis and permissive practices were positive predictors of parental stress, while supportive practices were associated with lower stress levels. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening supportive practices to improve family dynamics, particularly in families of children with ADHD, and underscore the need for targeted parental support through interventions to mitigate stress and enhance parent-child relationships.
