Περίληψη

In this article we examine a new institution in Greece, Second Chance Schools (SCS). With the help of a questionnaire, we approached the students in one of these schools, which is located in an urban environment. Our goal was to delineate the social profile of the students. Simultaneously, I used my experience as a teacher in one of these schools in order to enrich the outcome of this research. We conclude that the majority of the students are up against many difficulties in their lives (mostly economic, but also social and family difficulties). SCS help them to blunt these problems and provide them with a more optimistic view of life.
