Περίληψη

The present study aimed at exploring the experiences of individuals with dyslexia concerning their social relationships with their peers throughout school years. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with eleven young adults with dyslexia who had attended general schools. The data were analysed with the use of qualitative content analysis. The findings revealed that participants had experienced rejection and isolation and were often teased by their peers. However, they had formed close friendships mainly with pupils who also had disabilities or were excluded from the peer group. The participants’ difficulties with regard to social relations had a negative impact on their social functioning during adulthood.
