Περίληψη

This article aims to study the professional development of teachers involved in action research and attempting to function as a learning community. Educational research was conducted during a school year to a primary school in Lavrio, with the participation of two teachers and the pupils of two classes (the upper grades-fifth and sixth). At a theoretical level, this research has adopted the principals of Education for the Environment and the Sustainability. Action research facilitates the active participation of students, which is the main purpose of the research, and at the same time contributes to the development of teacher professionalism. By cultivating an equal form of communication, teachers gradually and systematically develop theircompetence as autonomous professionals. Teachers reform their teaching practice, improve their relationship with the students, and develop themselves professionally.
