Conflicts are an integral part of children’s development and their integration into peer groups. Conflicts occur within the family as well as all other social systems children join, including schools. The management of conflicts is a dynamic process during which individuals are asked to select various strategies. Within the school context, relevant studies have focused on the management of conflicts from the perspective of teachers as well as the prevention of school bullying and violence. Using hypothetical scenarios, the present study attempts to investigate the strategies students attending 5th and 6th grades select while dealing with conflicts during their daily school life. The selection of conflict resolution strategies seems to be affected by familial standards and values, teacher expectations, age and gender.
