Περίληψη

The aim of this paper is to represent the major role of educational leaders in combating teachers’ stress as well as burnout. The main argument put forward is that educational burnout is minimized via transformational leadership assisted by the carrying out of an inductive-reconstructive model of professional development. In addition, the motivational properties as well as the counteractive effect of the proposed model of professional development to educational burnout, are both stressed and discussed. This paper then leads to the conclusion that effective leadership needs to adopt a humanistic approach in recontextualising education policy.
