Περίληψη

The position of the director in an organization or body is very important because one of the areas of responsibility, subject to his competence, is the management of human resources. This fact becomes even more complex and complicated when we refer to a school unit, where this responsibility is aligned with the provision of educational work. In this research, the opinions of seven principals of a primary education school unit are studied regarding the selection method for this position and the difficulties they encounter while performing their duties. The survey shows that the participants do not completely agree with the existing selection criteria and consider the assistance of the state, colleagues and parents-students to be decisive factors in solving the difficulties and problems they face in the exercise of their duties.
