Call for Special Issue Proposals: Invitation to Guest Editors

The South-Eastern Europe Journal of Economics (SEEJE) invites innovative proposals for Special Issues to be published in upcoming volumes. 

We welcome proposals from established scholars and research groups targeting significant, timely topics within theoretical and applied economics, particularly those with relevance to South-Eastern Europe and broader European economic integration. 

Potential themes may include, but are not limited to:
• A particular ASECU member country (e.g., its macroeconomic situation, sectoral or business challenges, or case studies).
• The labor markets or business climate in the ASECU countries and neighboring regions.
• The economic impact of the diaspora from ASECU countries (e.g., patterns of migration, remittances, human capital transfer, and transnational business networks in host countries).
• Experiences, institutional capacities, and socio-economic impacts of EU Interreg programs (including Cross-Border, Transnational, and IPA cooperation involving EU and non-EU member states) in ASECU countries and neighboring regions.
• Regional economic resilience, integration, and development.
• Macroeconomic policy, fiscal sustainability, and public investment strategies.
• The economic impacts of global shocks, climate changes, and environmental/natural disasters on GDP, spending, and prices.
• Trade dynamics, nearshoring trends, and global value chain integration with the wider EU.
• Financial market integration, banking stability, and the rise of Fintech in South-Eastern Europe.
• Energy transition strategies, pricing pressures, and sustainable infrastructure development.
• Cross-border academic collaboration, research networks, and knowledge transfer in driving regional policy.

Proposal Requirements:
Interested guest editors should submit a formal proposal containing:
1. A tentative title for the Special Issue.
2. A brief rationale (300–500 words) explaining the significance, novelty, and scope of the theme.
3. A draft Call for Papers (CFP).
4. Short biographies and publication histories of the proposed Guest Editors.
5. An estimated timeline for submission, peer review, and publication.

Journal Policies & Compliance:
All submissions to approved Special Issues will undergo the journal’s standard rigorous peer-review process. Accepted manuscripts must fully comply with SEEJE editorial policies, publication ethics, and specific guidelines regarding authorship, data transparency, and the disclosure of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in research.
