Abstract

This article critically summarizes the existing views concerning the theoretical foundation of converging development vis-a-vis the regions and member- countries of the EEC. The "liberal" as well as the "interventional" approaches are briefly analyzed, in order lo reveal their diametrically different stand in respect of the free movement of the factors of production and trade liberalization effects on regional disparities existing within the wider geographical unit resulting from the proccess of economic integration.
