Abstract

International initiatives, such as the multilateral Peace Processes for the Middle East, the multilateral Instruments for the environment of the United Nation and of the World Bank, the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, the Euro mediterranean Cooperation, etc. - demonstrate the potential for bilateral or multilateral environmental cooperations which can protect the environment at the local, regional and global scales and secure the development processes of the countries. In this study the prospects for the development of an international environmental policy for Greece are examined. Such policy will include the necessary actions for the protection of the domestic and international environment, the exploitation of the comparative advantages of Greece in terms of the relationships with the countries in the wider geographic area, and the promotion of the cooperation framework with selected countries.
