Abstract

In Greece the notion of "hetero-employment" implies a problem of occupational relevance and raises the issues surrounding the relationship between the fast expanding higher education and employment. It is similar to the notions of mismatch and overeducation that are used for the graduates' labour market in the U.K. and the US respectively. Empirical research on the occupational relevance for two groups of graduates (engineers and economists) highlights the differences between segments of the graduates' labour market. And stresses the importance of taking into account the regulation of the professional labour markets in analysing the flow from higher education to employment.
