Περίληψη

This paper asserts that education evaluation and research are primarily political activities whose different forms derive from differing attitudes to the distribution of power. It describes and endorses a ‘democratic’ model of evaluative research, and suggests some principles to guide the conduct of education enquiry. The paper provides a general framework to which the current theoretical and methodological explorations of SAFARI can be related.
