Today, there is much evidence that the methods of electroencephalographic (EEG) signal analysis, using small computers, will give diagnostic criteria concerning functional brain disturbances. The methods mostly used are the spectral analysis and the evoked potentials. Both have given important knowledge but we have not yet obtained a typical diagnostic criterion for any specific brain dysfunction. The modern EEG analysis methods, together with the different psychological tests will be very helpful for the assessment of different brain dysfunctions and learning difficulties. We performed EEG registration at rest and during different tasks. The differences between rest and the tasks in learning disabled children were different in relation to controls. The learning disabled children had not any organic brain dam mage after medical and clinical testing. These findings suggest that we will be able, in the future, to obtain objective diagnostic findings in cases of slight brain dysfunctions in learning disabled children.
