Περίληψη
Since 1979 a number of very important changes have taken place in the English education system. It has been argued that all of them constitute a messy set of compromises between neo-liberal and neo-conservative ideologies and policies. In the light of this thesis the present article examines the introduction of GNVQs and argues that their co-existence with GCE A levels may indicate a conservative rally rather than a modernization enterprise.
