This work consists of three parts. Ιn the first part we present an overview analysis of the main conceptions and learning difficulties that students of differ¬ent age hold about force and motion. In the second par there is an analysis of the historical evolution of pro-scientific and scientific ideas about force and motion from Aristotle to Newton. This historical analysis highlights the origin of the stu¬dents' pre-scientific ideas about force and motion and explains their resistance (luring science teaching in schools. In fact, the remediation of students' initial conceptions about force and motion requires a deep conceptual change from an Aristotelian to a Newtonian system of thought. The use of proper computer simulations of motions in the real and in alternative worlds may be of an important help in remediating students' conceptions. In the third part we present Inter¬active Physics II, powerful interactive software, which can provide science teachers and students with an important variety of situations of motion and rest simulations in the real and in alternative worlds. The question is which can be the most appropriate didactical use of this software in order to facilitate students' conceptual change. On the basis of our previous analysis, we propose a number of dynamic simulations of different bodies' motion and rest situations, which can facilitate students' conceptual change and can help them construct scientific ideas about force and motion.
