Περίληψη

This article sets out to show that Papastamatis' article of the same title published in "Educational Review" (1998, 28) does injustice to the teaching approach of "I think and write" by which free and patterned writing is taught in Greek primary schools now days; and that it does so not because it contests the main tenets of this approach but because it contains quite a few inaccuracies and untenable assertions, At the same time the present article takes the occasion to expound the framework and the most controversial points of the teaching approach in dispute and to note that its philosophy draws from the domains of both the creative arts and the humanistic psychology.
