Περίληψη

This article reads as a proposal for the development of an educational policy in the field of computers and literacy education. We point out that an instrumentalist approach, which is marked both by unreasonable emphasis on the capabilities of the machines and by inappropriate attention to the complexity of the issues involved, has so far dominated the field. Our claim is that this approach ought to be replaced by a policy that takes into account all the variables that come into play. We move on to outline the major aspects of this policy.
