Περίληψη

The aim of the pilot research we present here was to investigate primary school pupils' representations about daily life technologies (DLT) in a prospect of studying technology in Greek Primary Education. The participants were 300 pupils (145 girls, 155 boys) in fourth, fifth and sixth grade of 5 primary schools in central Greece. The pupils were called to answer an open-ended question by selecting freely the way of answer with a text and/or a drawing. The majority of the pupils answered by drawing, the study of which showed that almost 1/3 of the pupils conceive DLT exclusively as Information and Communication Technology. Simultaneously, more than half of the pupils faced DLT as a group of technical means isolated from human activities and the social frame of their use. The technologies that are reported more often are ICT, domestic technology (electric appliances mainly} and transportation means. These data are used for planning, organizing and implementing a mini curriculum for studying technology in primary education within the frame of social constructivism.
