Περίληψη

This paper reports on an action research with mentors of student teachers within a teaching practice programme. It focuses on the processes of supporting teachers as researchers. The different stages of educating mentors in research methods and specifically in the action research spiral are critically analyzed. The role of the coordinator is proved to be influenced by the knowledge, capacities, worries and dynamics of the group involved in action research. The paper presents both the difficulties of enhancing teachers as researchers as well as the benefits from employing action research as an in-service education method.
