Περίληψη

The paper presentsed probes into recent research data concerning teach- ersthe educators’ opinionsperceptions about the controversial institutional¬ization of a system of teacher evaluation of their work in Greeceour coun¬try. The research was carried out in January 2005 byfrom a groupthe of post¬graduate students of the Department of Education of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki under the guidance of Prof. Kelpanides. The sample included 461 educators from primary and secondary school teach- erss in Eastern, Central and Western Thessalonikcia and inas well as Eastern (Greek) Macedonia. Data were collected using a written question¬naire comprising a wide range of questions concerning evaluation. Among the general findings of the research project was the finding that two thirds of the respondents approve the institutionalization of a system of teacher evaluation but express reservations concerning the modalities of the evalu¬ation procedure.
