The purpose of the present research was to examine to what extent the coexistence of children with special needs (SEN) and children without SEN can change the attitude of the latter towards acceptance. The research find¬ings indicated that children without SEN who accept the integration of chil¬dren with SEN in their classes, develop a more positive attitude than those who don’t accept them in their classes despite their being at the same school as far as school activities are concerned. However, their acceptance regard¬ing social interaction outside the school setting is reduced. This fact shows that while the functional integration of children with SEN in (mainstream) schools is often achieved, these children remain socially isolated.
