This study used the Theories of Reasoned Action (TRA) and Planned Behaviour (TPB) in order to examine and predict pupils’ intention to con¬tinue to study in a Greek school of London. Eighty eight pupils completed self-administered questionnaires designed to measure the direct compo¬nents of the two theories in May 2004. Two hierarchical regression analyses were used to determine the relative contributions of attitude toward the behaviour, subjective norm and perceived behavioural control. The results showed that both the TRA and TPB in general are useful theories for pre¬dieting and exploring the factors that influence pupils’ intention. Attitude toward the behaviour was the best predictor of intention, followed by sub¬jective norm. The perceived behavioural control component in TPB had no effect on intention. Applicability of the TRA and TPB for pupils’ intention to continue to study in Greek schools of London and the implications for future research are discussed.
