Περίληψη

Peer bullying mostly takes place in the school’s environment and research about it has great actuality because peer bullying is considered be the most serious problem in school today. The purpose of this article is to examine the phenomenon of school violence as a groupprocess and to increase the under¬standing of it. A theoretical overview of the literature has made to investigate the phenomenon and to give a broader view of the research field.
Until now, the research about peer bullying has in the main an individualistic view and it focuses on the frequency of the phenomenon and its relation to the individual characteristics of bullies and victims. But there are no clear connections between personality characteristics and the risk of being bully or victim. In our view, school violence is a group phenomenon and the mechanisms behind groupthink seem to be very active.
