Περίληψη

Recently much attention has been focused on the importance of early second/ foreign language learning (FLL). First, we summarize what recent research has said about the Critical Period Hypothesis, connected to preschool vs adult foreign language learning. Then we present some important implications for early FLL from a linguistic and social-cognitive point of view: which are the general characteristics of child language and thought that could be used in con¬structing a teaching methodology (and what kind of methodology is suitable for early learners); finally, we consider in more detail the role of Theory of Mind in children’s early FLL.
