Περίληψη

The death of a beloved person during childhood is not unusual. In spite of this fact, our knowledge about the needs of a child for support under such circum¬stances are relatively limited. The reactions and the griefing process of the child are quite similar with those of the adults with some differences. The pur¬pose of this article is initially to provide a theoretical approach of death and loss through a description of children’s perceptions of death in different age groups and of their reactions after an important loss. Finally, having this theo¬retical approach as a starting-point, the aim of the paper is to propose methods and strategies to handle crises by the school and the teachers, as well as to in¬corporate the death as a subject in daily teaching.
