Περίληψη

The premise that teachers play a vital role in school effectiveness has led to extensive research on the idea of the effective teacher. The question that served as stimulus for this article is “Which factors promote or prevent teacher effec¬tiveness?” A bibliographic study and related research data reveal a range of > factors that affect teachers’ pedagogical and teaching work; teachers’ charac¬teristics, attitudes, knowledge and skills, students’ profile and attitudes, the in¬frastructure, culture and climate of a school as well as structural elements of the educational system.
