Περίληψη

The following article is a presentation of a social and educational, action re¬search. conducted to investigate the way that learners acknowledge, perceive and behave, when asked to comprehend and manage the resolution of envi¬ronmental problems, with regards to recycling, before and after the imple¬mentation of/an environmental education programme, with the use of the educational software “The Recycle Land'’. The aim of the software is to sen¬sitize the students towards the need to deal with the problems arising from the current way of waste management, as they are authentic environmental issues which they are related to. On the grounds of social constructivism and by pedagogically utilizing Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) an holistic approach is achieved in the teaching of Environmental Education, avoiding the isolation of the student from the wider frames in which in which it takes place. The student activities lead to the configuration of meaningful messages, the theory is integrated with action and the evalua¬tion with teaching and learning, while the students are encouraged to ac¬tively participate in problem resolution. This education software in a familiar and friendly environment, provides the students the possibility to become aware of the environmental and economic value of recycling in order for them to act as modem citizens for the viability and ever-going euphoria of the planet.
