Περίληψη
The present paper sheds light on the global forces prominent in the education policy agendas and discourses. With particular reference to the technological, economic as well as political aspects of globalisation, this paper argues that education’s contribution to democracy is critical. This aim has been achieved via a historical analysis of 2014the processes of globalisation followed by a critical discussion of the relationship of education and globalisation. The argument put forward is that education professionals must acquire a proactive role as well as a critical global awareness in order to efficiently adjust education policy to the ongoing imperatives of globalisation, yet without the risk of national identity alienation.
