Konstantinos Koumas inspired by deep patriotism and ardent love for his enslaved compatriots, transferred from Europe the torch of the free scientific thought as he was one of the first who realized the needs of the spiritual rebirth of his country. The goal that he set in his life was the creation of a cultural identity in modern Greece, which will undoubtedly be achieved through education, the Pedagogias as he precisely calls the pedagogical science. The goal setting of the pedagogy of Kouma is formed in two axes; the upbringing and the education which both of them correspond to the physical growth and the development of psychic strength. The pedagogical science is separated in the Pure pedagogical science and in the Applied pedagogical science. The Pure deals with the object of the education. On the contrary, the Applied is related to the useful tools, the material and the method by which the imminent goal will be achieved.
