This paper focuses on the development of Second Chance Schools (SCS), an innovative institution established inGreece, in1997. Inparticular, the reproduction of the culture of Second Chance Schools is investigated during the third phase of their function (2008-2015). The headmasters’ οf SCS, the teaching staff and the local teachers’ unions addressed formal complaints during the 2008-2015 period, mainly in relation to institutional changes implemented in the schools, in 2008. Those reforms led to shortage of basic elements of innovation. The theoretical framework of this paper is based on the organisational theory of the school culture. Qualitative analysis was used as part of the methodology implemented to the data provided. This analysis verified the strength of SCS as an institution and laid the foundation for better understanding of their role in the society. Teachers of the SCS have become well acquainted of the functionality and purpose of those schools and collectively appreciate their institutional values and principles.
