Περίληψη

The present study discusses ways through which inclusive education can be promoted in primary education inGreece. Particularly, it suggests that Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Total Quality in Education (TQE) create an environment where inclusion can flourish. The research took place at a primary school, with the participants being the students of 1st and 4th grade, their parents and the teachers. Τhe qualitative research methodology was followed. The process of research was divided in three phases. The first one was the primary evaluation of the conditions of the two classes, regarding the degree of evolvent of inclusive education. The second one was the intervention according to the principals of UDL and TQE and the last one was the final evaluation of the intervention. Each philosophy separately, but at the same time simultaneously and in combination with the other one, they created the conditions for the reduction of children’s marginalization, the increase of their everyday participation by overtaking the barriers, the provision of equal opportunities to all and eventually the promotion of inclusion.
