Περίληψη

Photosynthesis, respiration, nutrition and growth are some of the fundamental issues of plant physiology. For this reason these issues constitute part of the curriculum in the pri¬mary and secondary education. Nevertheless, teaching and learning these phenomena present various difficulties. This is evident from a review of the recent bibliography, as this is an increased interest of the researchers for the different sides of this thematic area (biochemical, ecological, physiological). This paper aims at analyzing the views and obstacles that pre-school and early children primary |5 - 7 years of age have when trying to understand the nutrition and growth of plants. Specifically children ideas concerning the following aspects the nutrition and growth processes are investigated a) The plants as food producers, b) The substances necessary for the plant nutrition and the role they play in nutrition, c) The plant s parts through which the absorption of the essential nutrients, d) The characteristics of the growth procedure of the plants (intake or no-intake of the essences from the immediate environment, naturalistic of no naturalistic character of the growth procedure)
