It is now widely accepted that exposing students to a variety of cultural stimuli causes them to become culturally intelligent and enhances their creativity. Intercultural literature allows students to become acquainted with other cultures, opening them up to new experiences and possibilities. In addition, since there is interplay between literary reading and creative writing, students as co-creators of text and meaning form their own views and enhance their creativity. In this learning context, the production of useful ideas and mainly the development of knowledge, skills and mentalities that enhance the learning process are facilitated. The program “Social Learning Skills and Creative Writing” by the Department of Balkan, Slavic and Oriental Studies of the University of Macedonia was implemented in the fifth and sixth grades of elementary schools in Thessaloniki, Greece, during the school year 2018-2019, having as a basis literary texts from Eastern and Southeastern European countries. Results showed an improvement in the social learning skills of the 382 students who participated in the program and this article presents the results of its positive evaluation by the 25 teachers who implemented it.
